ATN EP 45: Travel
This week's episode of All Things Nerdy we're thrilled to have Eric, a seasoned traveler with a fascinating story, as our special guest.
Eric's journey is nothing short of extraordinary. Born and raised in Alabama, he took a leap of faith and moved out west to Arizona, only to find himself leaving the United States in 2008 for an adventure that would change his life. Over the next 12 years, Eric traveled to over 60 countries and set up his home base in seven different nations – Thailand, Vietnam, Colombia, Australia, New Zealand, the Netherlands, and the UK. Each of these places has contributed to his incredible journey and unique perspective on life and travel.
Eric will share the insights and experiences he gained from his global travels. We'll hear about the diverse cultures he's immersed himself in, the challenges and joys of living in different countries, and the personal growth that comes from such expansive exploration. But Eric's adventures didn't stop there. He's recently moved back to Alabama and authored a book titled "Abandoned Deep South," which showcases his exploration of forgotten and abandoned places across the southern United States. Since 2020, he's traveled and worked across 49 states, uncovering the hidden gems and lost stories of America. Expect to hear tales of Eric's most memorable experiences, from the bustling streets of Bangkok to the serene landscapes of New Zealand, and the historic ruins scattered across the deep south of the USA. We'll delve into what it means to truly immerse oneself in different cultures, the art of finding beauty in abandoned places, and how travel can shape one's identity.
For those dreaming of their next travel adventure or those who love to live vicariously through the tales of wanderers, this episode is a treasure trove of stories, tips, and inspiration. Join us as we traverse the globe with Eric and discover the world through the eyes of a true explorer.
